Fortunately, we have done that for you! Here’s a breakdown of the standout (or disappointing) features of Redbooth, Smartsheet, Basecamp, and LiquidPlanner:
Basic Teaming Project Management Software Comparisons
In order to compare the teaming project management software, several criteria was considered. The infographic at the bottom of this post gives more details regarding the outcome. Redbooth’s pricing is refreshingly simple. They offer the software for free for up to 5 users, but you are only allowed 5 projects maximum and 5GB or storage. This would not be ideal for large companies, but could be handy for a small business or personal use. The features though do seem outstanding with the Pro and On-Premise packages (at $5 and $15 a month, respectively).
The software is highly collaborative because of its real-time easy-to-use discussion area. You can communicate via HD video conferences, screen sharing, and group chat. Redbooth features unlimited storage in its Pro and On-Premise packages, which are integrated with the popular clients Dropbox, Box, and Google Drive. You can stay connected wherever you go with your tablet or mobile phone by taking advantage of their clients for either iOS or Android. One cool element is that Redbooth’s web client supports English, French, German, Catalan, Spanish, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese.
Bottom line: Extremely collaborative, communicate in multiple ways, fantastic storage integration, easier to use than most software like it, no task priority, no task status.
Smartsheet offers a free 30-day trial to test out their product, and you can also choose from Basic, Advanced, Team, or Enterprise packages that are the monthly fees of $14, $25, $39, and dependent upon your needs, respectively. It is highly collaborative in that you may share updates with colleagues, vendors, and your team.
Smartsheet helps you stay organized with Gantt scheduling, tasks organized by priority, due dates, and task completion statuses. Unfortunately, multiple resources cannot be assigned, so there is some frustration there. Also, when displaying reports, it is not always in the Gantt format if you want a report across multiple projects simultaneously.
Bottom line: Extremely easy to use, highly collaborative, the most organized and task-oriented of the 4, some issues with reports and resource management.
Basecamp offers a 60-day trial, which is the longest of the 4. Prices start at $20 a month for 10 projects and 3GB and go up to a whopping $3000 annually for unlimited projects, 500GB of space, and priority customer support. The packages in between are $50, $100, and $150. Basecamp offers the most packages and is the most expensive of the 4. Workflow and task management shines in Basecamp, as there’s a calendar view as well as an interface for seeing tasks by user.
Bottom line: Easy to use, beautiful interface can be expensive for some companies, fantastic reputation, very organized workflow and task management aspects.
LiquidPlanner offers a 30-day trial with full access. If you like it, you may purchase it for $29 per month per user or by the year for $24 per user per month. This could get expensive depending on how many employees you’ll have using the software, but it has some redeeming features. It’s extremely organized with time tracking and extensive reports. It’s fairly collaborative in that you can communicate with a team easily even if you are dispersed and not in the same office building, for example.
Bottom line: Highly organized, great report elements, can be pricey, may be an advanced interface for beginners.
