Is Google+ Going To Go The Distance Against Facebook and Twitter?

Did you receive an invitation to Google+ yet? An invitation from one of your friends to connect via Google+ is like receiving a golden ticket to Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory. In case you didn't know, Google+ is one of the latest online tools created by Google and it is their attempt to take the power of Google then combine it with social media to give their users an environment that rivals Facebook and Twitter.

During the initial public release during the last week of June, the flurry to get an invitation was in high demand. However after it's early release, the invitation process was shutdown due to the overwhelming activities of the early adapter of Google+ and the number of people who were invited to join. Many were surprised by this move and were not happy due to the fact that they wanted their friends to try Google+ out too. Also, below are a few links to key information that can better help you understand how things work.

Brief Overview of Google+

One key factor that I see repeated in the streams is “Is this interface just a dressed up version of an older Google product named Wave?”. That product hit the market the same way but after a short period of time it was removed from the market. Below is an excerpt from an article about Google+ vs. Facebook or is it newer version of Wave:

Google has had a series of embarrassing flops when it comes to new products. Google Wave was too complicated and didn’t solve a problem anyone had. Google Buzz never caught on with enough people to become useful. Now, they’ve set their sights directly on Facebook with Google+ and after spending a little less than a day with it, I have to admit I am intrigued.

Below is a video that will also help you learn more about Google+. I would love to hear what you think about Google+ so please provide your feedback below.
