Business Makeover: Hiring a Virtual Assistant (VA)
Wow, I actually hired a virtual assistant (VA) to help me get things organized with my business makeover. This was a hard decision because I’ve always been the hands-on business owner and releasing control is hard. Don’t get me wrong, I can delegate when the need arises but to actually had over tasks that I’m used to doing, has been hard.
To help me determine who I should hire as my VA, I chose to ask for references from my mentor Mari Smith (@MariSmith) and she gave me 5 VA names. I immediately contacted them via Facebook but the strangest thing is that only one of the persons responded to me. I thought this was strange because if you are in business and someone contacts you about your services, it’s customary that you respond. So I communicated with the person who responded and now she and I are developing a working relationship.… Continue reading →

Business Makeover: Getting Over The Hump
When making habit changes, sometimes we run into a “hump” that we feel is blocking the way of success. Yet some choose not to the press on past the hump and get stopped in their tracks. Others choose to fake it and make it look like they have gotten over the hump and drift along on a wing and a prayer. Then there are the successful people who actually choose to deal with the hump by defining what it is and determining the best way to beat the hump.
Where are you in dealing with your “hump”? Have you identified what it is and created a solution to getting past it? My hump has always been hidden procrastination. This means that I start big and then I say that things are going as planned but in reality I’ve run out of a plan and I seem to loose the unction… Continue reading →
Business Makeover: Taking care of the little things
So I am starting my week long journey into dealing with the hard questions that will affect my business as I continue my business makeover (click here for list of questions). During this process, I will also take care of the little things that I normally put on the back burner. Here is my list of little things:
- Getting proper rest at night (at least 6 – 8 hours)
- Eating the right foods at the right time
- Exercising consistently
- Shortening my work day (from 16 hours to a maximum of 10)
- Investing time into my personal business
- Hiring a VA and delegating tasks
- Schedule social networking time frames
As you can see, my list of little things are mostly personal and like most business owners, I’ve put myself on the back burner and put my business first. I will be working over the next week to create a… Continue reading →
Business Makeover: Mission Possible

So… I decided to make a list of detailed and sometimes hard questions that will help me identify my enemy.
- What have I done in the past that was successful?
- What have I done in the past that was unsuccessful?
- Where am I unfocused on in my business?
- Do I have an identified target market?
- Have I developed an Internet marketing plan that reaches my target market?
- How am I monetizing my business websites?
- Do I have areas in my business that are causing me to lose money?
- When am I allowing myself to have down-time with my business so I… Continue reading →
