Business Makeover: Weekly Checkup on Goals
So I’ve decided to do a weekly checkup on the current goals that I have so that I can see if I have made progress. Below is my first to do list that I made…
- Getting proper rest at night (at least 6 – 8 hours) – Yes, I’m doing this
- Eating the right foods at the right time – Yes, I’m doing this and enjoying it
- Exercising consistently – working with personal trainer to create plan ()
- Shortening my work day (from 16 hours to a maximum of 10) – Yes, I’m doing this
- Investing time into my personal business, Yes, I’m doing this
- Hiring a VA and delegating tasks, YES I DID THIS, YEAH!!!
- Schedule social networking time frames, I can’t be perfect so yes I’m still working on this one.
The next round for my to do list will include the following:
- Continue monitoring my social networking time frames & create schedule
- Create Mind Map for my business makeover
- Develop strategy for implementing business makeover
- Continue working on setting up daily schedule
- Focus on the services that I will provide to my clients
- Create to do list for VA
One thing that is helpful when you are going through a business makeover is to continue monitoring your progress by creating to do lists. As you complete a to do list, create a new one. It is also a good idea to do a weekly check-up as you go through the business makeover process. Even when you have completed the initial process of making over your business, continue doing a periodic check-up so you can monitor your progress.
Do you have suggestions for those who may feel stuck in a hole with their business? Have you gone through the process of a business makeover and would like to share about your experience? Please feel free to leave your comments. I look forward to your feedback.
Business Makeover: Developing Your Support System
One of the things I realized is that in order to be successful with my business that I need to put a support & outsourcing system in place. To me, both systems are made up of a group of people who help me ensure my business run smoothly. Such as…
- Virtual Assistant (VA): helps make sure that my administrative task are handled (Support)
- Audio/video editor: edits all audio & video that I create (Outsource)
- Content manager: ensure that the the content on my blogs and my customer blogs are current and relevant (Outsource)
- Business Mentor: help me determine best direction for my business (Support)
- Accountability partners: help ensure that I stay on target with business tasks (Support)
- Financial Mentor: help ensure that I handle my finances correctly (Support)
- Marketing Mentor: help me fine tune the branding for my companies (Support)
- Internet research: complete research on the internet regarding specific topics that I will write about (Outourse)
I have already started forming both systems and have been very impressed with what I have experienced so far. I’m still looking to fill a couple of these areas but until then, I will press forth toward my successful business makeover.
Have you been trying to determine if you need to go through a business makeover? Do you have questions about my progress or your own progress? Have you been trying to determine who you should have as part of your support system? Then please feel free to post your comments here or use my contact form to send your request to me directly.
Business Makeover: Getting Over The Hump
When making habit changes, sometimes we run into a “hump” that we feel is blocking the way of success. Yet some choose not to the press on past the hump and get stopped in their tracks. Others choose to fake it and make it look like they have gotten over the hump and drift along on a wing and a prayer. Then there are the successful people who actually choose to deal with the hump by defining what it is and determining the best way to beat the hump.
Where are you in dealing with your “hump”? Have you identified what it is and created a solution to getting past it? My hump has always been hidden procrastination. This means that I start big and then I say that things are going as planned but in reality I’ve run out of a plan and I seem to loose the unction to continue.
So to help me get past the “hump” I decided to face it this time and press through to success. What’s making it different this time is that I am putting things in place that will ensure success which is something that I hadn’t done before. Below are the things that I’ve put into place that are helping me get past my “hump”:
- Define who will mentor me and have regular meetings
- Get at least 3 accountability partners who will check-in on my progress
- Determine a plan that is doable for me to successful
- Be open to change regardless if it is small or big
- Walk out the path that’s best for me and not one that is meant for someone else
- Choose my actions wisely
- Use tools that are beneficial to your business makeover process (click here to read the first post in this series for more details about the tools I’m using)
Some of these I am always able to complete successfully while others have been missing from my attempts to getting over the business makeover “hump” in the past. Do you have additional points that I can include on this list that will help me and other to get over the “hump”? Please feel free to add your comments.
Business Makeover: Setting Up Accountability Partners
Yesterday I made a business decision to ask for accountability partners as part of my business makeover. I sent a request out to Twitterville* and three of my tweeples** answered back to let me know that they would hold me accountable. The three who will be my acccountability partners are Latara (@LataraHamYing), Christine (@neosoulsister), and Dee (@deegospel).
Why did I ask for accountability partners? I did this so that I will have someone who would check on me to make sure that I’m following through with my plans. It is always important that you not only have a mentor, who will guide you in the right direction, but you also need accountability partners, who will hold you accountable to what you have decided to do. Having accountability partners is not something new but if you don’t have at least one, you are doing yourself a disfavor.
When determining who your accountability partner should be, you should keep the following thing in mind:
- Have a plan first that you have created with your mentor
- Choose your accountability partners wisely
- Make sure that you trust your accountability partners
- Make a S.M.A.R.T.*** accountability schedule
- Be open to constructive feedback from your accountability partners
- HAVE FUN!
As I continue on my business makeover journey, I’m looking forward to having your feedback. If you have additional determining factors that you include with choosing an accountability partner, please share them. Also I will be creating an accountability list with my partners that we will all agree to. Do you have suggestion regarding what should be on this list? Please feel free to leave a comment containing your suggestions.

Business Makeover: Taking care of the little things
So I am starting my week long journey into dealing with the hard questions that will affect my business as I continue my business makeover (click here for list of questions). During this process, I will also take care of the little things that I normally put on the back burner. Here is my list of little things:
- Getting proper rest at night (at least 6 – 8 hours)
- Eating the right foods at the right time
- Exercising consistently
- Shortening my work day (from 16 hours to a maximum of 10)
- Investing time into my personal business
- Hiring a VA and delegating tasks
- Schedule social networking time frames
As you can see, my list of little things are mostly personal and like most business owners, I’ve put myself on the back burner and put my business first. I will be working over the next week to create a balanced approach to managing my business and taking care of the little things that affect me personally.
Do you have little things that you need to take off the back burner? Have you been thinking about changing the way you handle your business? Have you already gone through a business makeover and you feel that you have suggestions on how to successfully makeover your business that you want to share? I want to hear what you have to say. Please feel free to share your comments.
