Healthy Living: Dealing with a healthy mindset
“So your mind thinks, that is want you will do” is a powerful statement when you think about it. LOL, yes pun was intented. Today I want to share about the importance of dealing with a healthy mindset because you have to retrain your mind to think positive thoughts about healthy living continuously in order to be successful in making good habits.
A simple example of me doing this is when I go to a fast food place, I have the choice to get french fries with my meal of chicken strips or a side salad. I had to retrain my brain to choose the side salad over the french fries in favor of healthly living. Yes, I do also alternate between this mean and an Asian salad (LOVE THIS SALAD). Another choice I made was in getting plenty of rest so that I would be refreshed for the next day means that I have to go to bed at a decent hour so that I can get at least six hours minimum of rest. I’m still working on my mindset about exercise but it is picking up speed slowly.
How have you been dealing with creating a healthy mindset during your 21 days to sustaining a good habit of healthy living? Please feel free to share your experience or advice.

Healthy Living: Create a Baseline
When I first decided to start a 21-day Healthy Living series, I reached out to my co-contributors and asked what should be the first thing I do. The consesus was to create a baseline for all areas that I will be concentrating on during the series.
So today will be focused on creating a baseline for exercise, mindset, and eating. This means that I need to create a way for me to track what I’m doing in each of these areas. The tracking will help me determine my starting place and then create milestone goals to help keep me on track.
Below are key areas that I will include in my baseline that will affect my exercise routine, eating habits and mindset for this series.
- Nutrition (include details about where I am now and where I want to be)
- Exercise program (include different options such as walking & working out)
- Stress Management (make sure I deal with how stress can affect me during my transition to healthier living)
- Health care (make sure that I am under a doctor’s care about my healthy living program)
- Workplace environment (ensure that activities include dealing with healthy living in my workplace; I work from home and therefore need a peaceful & mind-provoking environment)

Healthy Living: Why Start a Healthy Living Series?
As a business owner, I decided that learning healthy living good habits is important so that I would be able to sustain myself when dealing with the pressures of managing my own business. I can to this conclusion because I realized that if I’m healthy that I can live and work without having a lot of health issue. So I decided to start at the beginning and determine what I need to change in order to live healthy.
To help be during this series I decided to have one accountability partner and three co-contributors to the series so that I would have a well-rounded way of determining what it would take for me to live healthy. The people who will be part of my accountability team are:
- Carol Dickson-Carr (accountability partner)
- Latara Ham-Ying (healthy eating co-contributor)
- Heather Moreno (healthy exercise co-contributor)
- Julette Millien (healthy thinking co-contributor)
These are the areas that I felt were going to be important in helping me reach my goals of healthy living. So join me over the next 21 days as I share my journey into healthy living.
